Hispanic Lawyers Affinity Group

Our Hispanic Lawyers affinity group works to promote networking, mentorship, and educational opportunities for lawyers with shared interests and backgrounds in the Hispanic/Latino community. The Hispanic Lawyers affinity group meets regularly to discuss issues concerning the Hispanic legal community, plan public service and awareness events, and assist Steptoe’s efforts to foster a diverse and vibrant culture.
- Hosted a panel discussion examining current immigration issues including sactuary cities, border security, and the separation of immigrant children and parents. The conversation was led by Alfonso Aguilar, President of the Latino Partnership for Conserative Principles and Michelle Brane, Director of the Migrant Rights and Justice program at the Women's Refugee Commission.
- Hosted Angelique Sina, president and founder of Friends of Puerto Rico, for a discussion led by former Governor of Puerto Rico and Steptoe partner, Luis Fortuño, on the history of Puerto Rico, its colonization, and current political climate, and ways to support the island in the aftermath of hurricane Maria.
- Sponsorship of client and alumni-facing networking events to further advance the firm's diversity and inclusion commitment within the Hispanic and Latino communitities.
