Michael's practice has recently focused on robotics and UAVs. He represents consumer drone manufacturers before the International Trade Commission, district courts, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board in claims ranging from patent infringement to antitrust violations. He is also key member of the firm's Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) task force, an inter-disciplinary team of drone experts from our Regulatory and Legislative, Intellectual Property, and Litigation groups.
For the past four years, Michael has been named to the Northern California Super Lawyers "Rising Stars" list for Intellectual Property Litigation. The annual list selects only 2.5% of the total lawyers in the region based on peer review and the publication's independent research.
Michael also assists various clients with business litigation, with particular emphasis on international and commercial arbitration, complex technical disputes, breach of contract, and cross-border investments. He has represented companies, investors, and sovereign states in arbitration proceedings throughout the world, including the World Bank's International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), and the Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services (JAMS) in San Francisco.
Michael also assists retail and e-commerce clients address claims directed to their website and mobile apps under the Americans for Disabilities Act (ADA) and state law equivalents.
