Peter assists companies in complying with the UK Bribery Act, UK Proceeds of Crime Act and US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act as well as related transactional anti-bribery regimes and anti-money laundering legislation. His international regulatory compliance practice also spans trade controls and trade sanctions.
He advises clients on the design, implementation and evaluation of global compliance programs, including training, risk assessments, and due diligence on third parties. He also conducts internal investigations into potential breaches of company compliance policies and/or laws.
Before joining Steptoe, Peter worked with HM Courts and Tribunals Service and the Ministry of Justice on a project to provide clear and accessible guidance to lay users of the courts and tribunals system in England and Wales. This project covered the entirety of the High Court, the Court of Appeal and more than 30 tribunals and necessitated working closely with judges, masters and jurisdictional support staff to build a firm understanding of each jurisdiction.
