(February 22, 2019, Washington, DC) — Steptoe & Johnson LLP associate Luke Tillman has joined the 2019 Pathfinders Program for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). As a pathfinder, Tillman will participate in a program designed by the LCLD to train high-performing, early-career attorneys in critical career development strategies including leadership and the building of professional networks.
Founded in 2009, LCLD is a growing organization of more than 300 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who are personally committed to creating a truly diverse legal profession. The LCLD Pathfinder Program is now in its fourth year as a full-scale program, having been piloted in 2015 among a select number of LCLD member law firms and corporations. It is an initiative that has filled a gap in LCLD programming, targeting junior associates and the youngest members of corporate law departments.
According to LCLD President Robert J. Grey, Jr., the program offers participants "intensive in-person training, online experiential learning, and opportunities to network with peers and esteemed LCLD Fellows in small group gatherings. We believe it's a program that can help catapult a person's career forward."
Tillman joined Steptoe from the US International Trade Commission where he advised Commissioner Irving Williamson on antidumping and countervailing duty injury investigations, five-year reviews, and appeals. Tillman's previous government experience includes the Department of Justice, where as a trial attorney, he represented the United States in litigation at the Court of International Trade and the Federal Circuit, and the US Customs and Border Protection, where he was an international trade specialist and attorney advisor.
Tillman earned an LL.M. in international trade law from Georgetown University and his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University, where he served as an articles editor for the Case Western Reserve Journal of International Law. Tillman received his B.A. from Kent State University.
