Law360 Covers Steptoe’s Jury Trial Win for CRC in Benzene Case

October 30, 2014

Steptoe’s jury trial win for CRC Industries, a manufacturer and distributor of industrial chemicals, was covered by Law360 in an article titled “Fuel Distributor Cleared of Benzene Claims in Worker Death.”  The article, published on October 27, discusses a Texas jury’s verdict clearing CRC and two other defendants of negligence in a suit filed by the family of a 30-year old mechanic who died of lymphoblastic leukemia.  The plaintiffs claimed that exposure to benzene in aviation fuel contributed to the man’s death.  They sought $2.4 million in wage losses and medical expenses, plus damages for pain and suffering and punitive damages.

The Steptoe toxic tort litigation team was led by partner Larry Riff, with of counsel Jennifer Bonneville, both based in the firm’s Los Angeles office.
