Overview
Steptoe’s antitrust practice has been recognized as a “recommended” practice in Global Competition Review’s biennial Washington, DC antitrust survey. The survey, published on April 15, ranks the top antitrust practices in what the editors describe as “the world’s most competitive and high-profile antitrust law market,” and outlines the practices that offer the most innovative and complete legal work in the District of Columbia. GCR surveyed more than 40 firms, the largest bar survey the publication has ever attempted. The editors note that “this is indicative not just of the importance that sophisticated law firms see in having a strong antitrust presence in the District of Columbia, but also of the likely unparalleled quality of work being done there.”
Steptoe is recommended for its representation of some “enviably big clients such as FedEx and waste disposal company Republic Services” in litigation defense, HSR filing and ongoing counseling, as well as “big-ticket deals” like Rockwell Collins’ $1.39 billion acquisition of ARINC, which was cleared through the Department of Justice without a consent decree based on Rockwell’s agreement to voluntarily conduct remedies. The antitrust practice is also recognized for its work in cartel investigations and follow-on damages actions
