Overview
Steptoe partner Pantelis Michalopoulos was quoted in articles published in Variety, Broadcasting & Cable, Multichannel News and The Bell Jar News covering the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Open Internet rules. On June 11, the DC Circuit Court of Appeals rejected an effort from Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to delay the effectiveness of the FCC’s net neutrality rules. On behalf of several clients, Steptoe has led a group of more than 20 intervenors in opposing the ISPs’ motion to stay.
In the articles, Mr. Michalopoulos states that the denial of the stay “is by no means the end of this case. But it is an auspicious beginning for the supporters of the open Internet. The Internet service providers have not shown a likelihood that they will win on the merits, and they have not shown that they will be harmed irreparably by the open Internet rules.”
