Overview
Law360 quoted Jason Abel in a November 7 news analysis titled “Clinton Trounces Trump In Donations From Biggest Of BigLaw.” The article discusses donations this election season to the presidential campaign from employees at the country’s 10 largest law firms. Republican nominee Donald Trump has received about $71,000 compared to Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, who has received $2.8 million.
The editors write that Mr. Trump’s low level of donor support may be a result of his inexperience in fundraising. However, Mr. Abel pushes back against the idea that Mr. Trump’s fundraising inexperience is solely to blame for Mrs. Clinton’s donation glut. He says: “I think that seeing his disregard of [democratic institutions] just makes people throw up their hands and say, ‘We’re no longer dealing with a preference. We’re dealing with someone who can be a threat to the law.’’’
