Overview
Law360 quoted Tony LaRocca in a June 30 article titled “Feds May Save Driverless Cars From Patchwork State Regs.” The article discusses the regulation of autonomous cars. Until now, states have been driving self-driving vehicle regulations, but the federal government appears poised to take the wheel in a move that could have sweeping effects on interstate travel and commerce, vehicle manufacturing and the United States’ position as a global competitor.
Mr. LaRocca says: “When the vehicle and the driver become the same thing, it begins to confuse that federal-state distinction. If you don’t have strong federal guidance, it just encourages states to get involved even more.”
