Mike Navarre Joins ABA’s Section of Public Contract Law Council

(August 14, 2017, Washington, DC) — Steptoe & Johnson LLP’s Mike Navarre has been tapped to serve on the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Section of Public Contract Law Council for a three-year term ending in 2020. Mr. Navarre’s nomination was approved at the annual ABA meeting held August 10-12 in New York.

The Section of Public Contract Law strives to improve public procurement and grant law at the federal, state and local levels and promotes the professional development of attorney and associate members in public procurement law.

For the past six years, Mr. Navarre served as the co-chair of the section’s Battlespace and Contingency Procurements Committee.

Mr. Navarre’s newest role bolsters Steptoe’s leadership in the Section of Public Contract Law. Steptoe’s Mike Mutek is a fellow and past chair of the section, who serves as its delegate to the ABA’s House of Delegates.

At Steptoe, Mr. Navarre focuses his practice on government contracts and complex commercial litigation. He has taught and assisted in developing CLE presentations on government contracts topics for Federal Publications Seminars, including a fundamentals of government contracting course. Mr. Navarre also contributed to the launch of Steptoe’s Government Contractor Supply Chain Toolkit, a resource to help government contractors understand the legal and regulatory framework applicable to supply chain management and navigate supply chain risks. Prior to joining Steptoe, Mr. Navarre served on active duty in the US Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He serves as a lieutenant commander in the Navy Reserve.
