E&E News Quotes Cynthia Taub on NEPA’s Role in Trump Permit Push

August 31, 2017

E&E News quoted Cynthia Taub in an August 23 article titled “Congress Faces Big Lift on NEPA for Trump Permit Push.” The article discusses President’s Trump executive order for infrastructure projects that would set a two year goal for permitting. The 1970 National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) is a major stumbling block. Ms. Taub says: "Some of this stuff is definitely not new. Largely this executive order is taking tools and procedures already established by the FAST Act and making them more generally applicable." Ms. Taub adds that she was struck by how the Trump administration is leaning on the White House Council on Environmental Quality to clear a path for projects.
