Betty Jo Christian represents railroads, motor carriers, port authorities, rail facility developers, and other parties in a wide range of regulatory and court proceedings. She also advises transportation companies on the regulatory aspects of a variety of transactions, such as tender offers and equipment financing. Chambers USA commentary states that “Betty Jo is a “legend” in the US railroad market and offers significant experience acting before regulatory agencies, federal appeals courts, and the Supreme Court.” In conjunction with her transportation practice, Ms. Christian, who formerly served as a Commissioner of the Interstate Commerce Commission, practices extensively before the US Courts of Appeals throughout the country, state appellate courts, and the US Supreme Court. She regularly counsels clients with respect to appellate litigation strategy and practice.

Ms. Christian’s recent transportation cases have involved railroad mergers and acquisitions, financial restructuring, federal preemption issues, and federal Constitutional issues.
