Overview
Steptoe partner Stewart Baker authored an op-ed for Fox News titled “Ex-Homeland Security Official: FISA Checks on Known Terror Suspects are a Matter of Life and Death.” The article, published November 13, discusses the debate in Congress over Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which will lapse at the end of the year. Mr. Baker, who previously served as assistant secretary for policy at the Department of Homeland Security, argues that Section 702, which allows the government to intercept communications of foreigners who are located overseas, is one of the most valuable anti-terrorism programs in the United States.
