EU Parliament Special Committee Announces Meeting to Discuss Recent Developments in Corporate Taxation: Today, the European Parliament’s Special Committee on Tax Rulings (TAXE 2) announced that it will hold a meeting on March 15 with representatives of large multinational corporations “to hear their views on recent developments in…corporate taxation in the EU and beyond.” (The mandate of this special committee is to “focus on harmful corporate tax regimes…with the aim of fighting tax evasion and aggressive tax planning, notably by increasing transparency and cooperation between governments and between national parliaments.”) Topics will include, among others, the global standards developed under the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s (OECD) Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) Action Plan and major initiatives presented by the European Commission, including the recent Anti-Tax Avoidance Package and re-launch of the Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base (CCCTB).
