The notice extends the transition relief provided in Notice 2016-22 for meeting the 28-day deadline for requesting the required certifications from a designated local agency for employees in targeted groups by an additional three months.
Congress Passes Missing Child IRS Disclosure Legislation: On June 16, the Senate approved legislation allowing the IRS to disclose tax return information to state and local law enforcement officials searching for missing children. The Recovering Missing Children Act (H.R. 3209) passed the House on May 10. The legislation permits the IRS to disclose tax return information to state and local law enforcement officials who have court orders and are working with federal agencies to recover missing children. The bill now heads to the White House.
