Congressional Omnibus Spending Deal Continues IRS Funding at 2016 Levels:
Congressional leaders reached an agreement late yesterday on a spending bill to fund the government through the end of September 2017. If passed, the bill would continue to fund the IRS at its current 2016 level of $11.2 billion. The bill also contains similar restrictions to past spending bills, including bans on issuing regulations related to section 501(c)(4) organizations and on giving bonuses to IRS employees who are behind on their tax payments. A vote on the bill is expected later this week.
