Daily Tax Update - June 27, 2017: Senate Delays Vote on Health Bill

Senate Delays Vote on Health Bill:  The Senate vote on the Senate's bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act has been delayed until after July 4. The delay comes after five Republican senators announced they would oppose the motion to proceed on the bill as it is currently written. 

Supreme Court to Consider Appeal of Conviction for Obstructing IRS:  Today the US Supreme Court agreed to review a decision by the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit upholding a taxpayer’s conviction for obstructing an IRS investigation by failing to maintain business records when the taxpayer had no knowledge of the investigation.

Sen. Hatch Reiterates Need for Comprehensive Tax Reform:  In a speech on the Senate floor today, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-UT) reiterated the need for comprehensive tax reform and highlighted his commitment to an “open and bipartisan” process.
