Daily Tax Update - November 12, 2013: Budget Conference Meets Tomorrow

BUDGET CONFERENCE MEETS TOMORROWThe bipartisan group of budget negotiators will hold their second meeting tomorrow to try to resolve the differences between the House and Senate FY 2014 budget bills and to try to avert another shutdown in January.  The first meeting held in late October focused on opening statements by the 29 members of the committee.  The negotiators have until December 13 to submit a report of their recommendations.

At the first meeting, House Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp said, “If this conference becomes an argument about taxes, we’re not going to get anywhere.”  Ryan added, “The way to raise revenue is to grow the economy.  We need to write a tax code that encourages economic growth — not stifles it.”
