Overview
Politico quoted Marc Spitzer in an August 5 article titled “Why are These Billions in Pipeline Projects Stalled?” The article discusses the backlog of pipeline and gas-export projects that have been held up due to President Trump’s slowness to fill vacancies at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). However, some FERC watchers believe the commission’s long state of paralysis is complex enough that the president is not solely at fault.
Mr. Spitzer, a former Republican FERC commissioner, says: “There are a number of things that had to go wrong to put FERC in this current position, and every single one of them went wrong. It’s unfair to put all the blame on any one person.”
