(August 1, 2016, New York) — Steptoe & Johnson LLP is pleased to announce that Zvi Hahn has joined the firm’s Tax Group as a partner. Mr. Hahn’s arrival continues the expansion of Steptoe’s private client practice in New York which welcomed partner Beth Tractenberg and of counsel Jasmine Campirides in 2015.
Mr. Hahn has a broad tax practice covering international tax planning for US and foreign corporations and individuals, international financing and derivative transactions, financial instruments, subpart F and passive foreign investment company issues and US real estate investments. Mr. Hahn has advised multinational groups with respect to structuring and restructuring of their international operations and with respect to cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and financing transactions. He has also advised numerous investment funds and hedge funds in connection with various tax matters relating to their formation, operations and investment and trading activities.
In addition, Mr. Hahn has significant experience representing high net worth individuals and families with respect to international tax planning, including immigration to, or expatriation from, the United States. At Steptoe, he will join a private client team whose clients include royal families, private equity and hedge fund managers, and some of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs and business owners. He will also be reuniting with Ms. Tractenberg, with whom he previously worked at another firm.

Mr. Hahn was recognized in The Legal 500 United States in 2015 for tax and is an adjunct professor of law at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law of Yeshiva University, where he has taught the course “International Tax” since 2003.
Mr. Hahn was born and raised in Israel and received his B.A. in economics and LL.B. in law, both magna cum laude, from Tel Aviv University. He served as a staff sergeant in the Israel Defense Forces and then worked at an Israeli law firm for four years before relocating to New York to continue his education in law. He earned his J.S.D. and his LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law.
