Shehzad Hasan is special counsel in the New York office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he is a member of the Litigation Department.
Mr. Hasan is a member of the national defense litigation team managing asbestos, silica, and welding rod matters. He has broad experience in a variety of litigation matters including complex mass torts, products liability, and insurance litigation. His experience includes managing complex litigation including overall strategy, complicated discovery issues, dispute resolution, and settlement.
Prior to joining Steptoe, Mr. Hasan worked for seven years at a major New York law firm where his practice included general products liability, mass torts, toxic torts, tobacco, insurance, securities, and asbestos litigation.Representative Matters
- Representation of a principal tobacco company in states’ actions for recoupment of health care costs associated with tobacco usage;
- Representation of a major property owner in an insurance coverage action involving a downtown Manhattan building damaged during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001;
- Representation of an international computer manufacturer in a products liability putative class action involving a computer design defect; and
- Representation of several investment banks in consolidated securities class actions involving the bankruptcy of a major telecom company.
