Law360 quoted Steptoe Chair Phil West in a December 7 article titled “Outcome Cloudy on Int’l Interest Deductions in Tax Bill.” The article discusses the ongoing work by tax writers to align the tax reform bills passed in both houses of Congress. Tax specialists predict the Senate version’s international tax provisions will prevail over those in the House bill in most instances, but suggest the final version of the limit on interest deductions from international group members is harder to predict.
Mr. West says, “The smart money is that the Senate bill is going to be the working document.”
