Nicholas P. Skoulis is a senior consulting toxicologist in Steptoe’s Environment and Life Sciences Group.   Dr. Skoulis focuses on biocides and antimicrobials, food contact materials, over-the-counter drugs and cosmetics.  He has over 25 years of professional experience, including most recently serving as the Global Head of Toxicology for Lonza.  Previously, he held positions of increasing responsibility in industrial toxicology for Texaco, Olin Corporation, and Arch Chemicals Inc., as well as with a consulting firm.
Dr. Skoulis has significant experience in:

  • Testing and general support for registration and re-registration of pesticides and other company products under US EPA and EU regulatory programs
  • Supporting company applications and notices to FDA concerning food contact and other regulated products
  • Designing and evaluating human clinical studies involving potential chemical exposures
  • Designing, supervising, and reviewing toxicology test programs, investigating a number of effects and endpoints on mammalian and other species
  • Drafting, supporting and reviewing chemical Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
  • Developing and implementing analytic methods for chemicals

Dr. Skoulis has also consulted in a number of litigation matters involving toxicology issues.   He served on the American Chemistry Council’s Strategic Science Team, the International Organization for Standardization’s Technical Committee to Draft Human Risk Assessments, and on industry, government and academic review panels.
