Join members of Steptoe's multi-disciplinary pipeline accident team for the first in a four-part webinar series, Pipeline Accidents: Are You Prepared?, which will address the critical areas involved in responding to a release of oil or other product from your pipeline.
Date: Thursday, December 1, 2016
Time: 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. ET (Click here for the time in your area.)
Within hours of a pipeline accident, investigators will be at your door, demanding responses to data requests, conducting interviews of key personnel and requesting that your personnel assist in the investigation. Your regulator will set conditions for resumption of pipeline service that can affect your operations for months or years. Advance preparation is crucial to the successful handling of an accident response and the actions taken and decisions made in the first hours and days are critical, and can have significant negative ramifications as numerous federal and state agencies become involved, and civil litigation, criminal investigations, and even congressional hearings move forward.
In our first webinar, we will discuss the initial response including:
- NTSB pipeline accident investigations
- PHMSA corrective action and pipeline re-start processes
- Operator challenges and perspectives
- Effect of NTSB investigation on civil and criminal litigation, your regulator, other federal and state agencies, the press, congress, and your customers
