Overview
James Winn is a litigator specializing in high tech intellectual property disputes. He also litigates complex contract disputes concerning SaaS, indemnity, non-compete, and non-solicit provisions. In addition, he frequently represents petitioners and patent owners in inter partes review (IPR) proceedings. He also litigates before the Unified Patent Court, and several other European regional courts. Along with litigating, he counsels clients on patent enforcement, patent litigation risk assessment, licensing, regulation compliance (including emerging AI and FCC regulations), intellectual property protection and development, and due diligence for startup tech companies.
His experience spans a range of technologies, including computer software and hardware, telecommunications, semiconductor devices, data and image capture devices, smart phones, social media, banking, financial technologies, home smart devices, home security devices, video streaming technology, data encryption, medical devices, internet-based retailing, data storage services, artificial intelligence, and oil field services.
Prior to law school, James worked as a controls engineer at a manufacturing company and as a design engineer at a leading technology company.
