Overview
Bob Maloney is a policy advisor affiliated with the Government Affairs & Public Policy Group and focuses on government relations. Bob has more than 40 years of government relations experience in Washington, where he has earned a reputation for integrity, strategic thinking, and bottom line results as a lobbyist for Fortune 500 companies.
For more than 40 years, Bob has enjoyed an active relationship with the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), members of which currently hold or have held leadership positions on Congressional committees and subcommittees ranging from chairmanship of the House Ways and Means Committee, to the Judiciary Committee, and Majority Whip.
Before his affiliation with Steptoe, Bob represented Fannie Mae before Congress, the Administration, and the District of Columbia as vice president of government and industry relations. Prior to Fannie Mae, he served as assistant secretary at Tenneco, Inc., working on legislative issues relating to the company’s gas pipeline, insurance, agri-business, packaging, automotive, and chemical subsidiaries. Bob also served as a chief of congressional affairs for the US Department of Commerce and on the professional staff of the House Appropriations Committee.

- Bob was honored in the Capitol at a CBC-sponsored reception in April 2007. The event was profiled in Washington Life, June 2007.
- Legal Times extensively quoted Bob in an article titled, "Courting the Caucus," on June 18, 2007.
- Bob helped to jumpstart Fannie Mae’s With Ownership Wealth (WOW) plan in pursuit of the organization’s mission to provide mortgage assistance to low and middle income families. WOW garnered support from blue chip corporations and launched one million minority families into first-time homeownership.
- The CBC and its Foundation gained renown for over a decade of receptions honoring CBC chairmen and members, sponsored by Fannie Mae and launched by Bob .
- Fannie Mae presented several honors to Bob during his tenure, including its Chairman’s Award, the President's Award, and the Premium Service Award for distinguished services.
