Overview
William O'Malley focuses his practice on white-collar criminal defense and internal investigations. Before joining Steptoe, William completed two years of judicial clerkships, serving Magistrate Judges A. David Copperthite and Douglas R. Miller of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, as well as Justice Angela M. Eaves of the Supreme Court of Maryland.
During law school, William served as a law clerk for both Senator Mazie Hirono’s Senate Judiciary Committee staff and the US Department of Justice's Human Rights and Special Prosecutions Section. His experience also includes judicial internships with Judge Ellen Hollander of the United States District Court and Justice Jonathan Biran in the Supreme Court of Maryland. On campus, William served as editor-in-chief of the Maryland Journal of International Law, president of the school’s American Constitution Society chapter, and a legal writing fellow. Through his school's clinical law program, William and his client drafted and successfully advocated for the passage of legislation that standardized fentanyl testing in Maryland hospitals.
