Bloomberg BNA quoted Lisa Zarlenga in an article titled “Expand Tax-Regulations Review List, Groups Urge Treasury, IRS.” The article, published August 9, discusses how several groups are urging Treasury and the IRS to expand the list of tax regulations under review as part of the government's effort to reduce regulatory burdens on taxpayers.
Ms. Zarlenga, former Treasury tax legislative counsel, tells Bloomberg BNA that there isn't much chance that Treasury will add new rules to the list of eight for its final report on EO 13789 due to President Trump September 18. “However, they did request comments more generally on Executive Order 13777” regarding “how to reduce regulatory burden, and they could very well consider those comments for that purpose. I think the timeframe may be a little longer term on EO 13777 though,” she says.
