Bloomberg BNA quoted Lisa Zarlenga throughout an article titled “Mnuchin Tax Counselor May Help Fill Assistant Secretary Void.” The article, published March 14, discusses the appointment of Justin Muzinich to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin’s counselor of tax reform. The article states that Mr. Muzinich could bring a much-needed focus to tax issues while the department searches for a new assistant secretary for tax policy.
Ms. Zarlenga says, “Given how thin leadership ranks are this is probably a helpful” appointment that could temporarily fill the void. She add that it’s uncommon for a Treasury secretary to appoint counselors, but not unprecedented.
