Overview
On June 1, 2023, Bloomberg Law quoted Don Sternfeld in an article, "ChatGPT Tempts Big Law Despite AI Accuracy, Privacy Worries." The article discusses how law firms and attorneys have reacted to the surge of generative AI, specifically ChatGPT since its release in November of last year. It lists a number of law firms allowing the limited use of ChatGPT and those that have banned its use.
Don Sternfeld, chief innovation officer said in regards to the use of ChatGPT at Steptoe: "Steptoe provides its employees with internal guidelines outlining acceptable personal and generic business uses of ChatGPT… Drafting job descriptions and generating definitions for business terms are allowed, for example."
