Overview
Chemical Watch quoted Michael Boucher in an article titled, "US EPA Promises TSCA Guidance for Submitting Studies Via OECD Templates." The article discusses how US EPA has said that it will develop additional guidance for submitting studies using OECD harmonized templates (OHTs), following multiple requests from industry groups needing to comply with TSCA reporting mandates.
Speaking about supporting the Agency's plans to provide more clarity, Boucher said, "EPA either did not consider or did not consider sufficiently that asking manufacturers for the first time to template studies submitted with CBI claims would raise questions for manufacturers and require answers from the agency. EPA often issues guidance when implementing a new TSCA requirement, but that apparently did not occur with its mandate for OHTs. It is not surprising that manufacturers complained to the Agency about not knowing what to do, or that EPA decided that it should issue missing guidance."
