On October 9, 2023, Chemical Watch quoted Ruxandra Cana and Eléonore Mullier in an article titled, "More EU restriction proposals could be withdrawn in wake of bisphenols move, lawyers say." The piece discusses questions raised about the universal PFAS restriction proposal and how regulators will respond to surge of comments.
Both Ruxandra and Eléonore agreed that a withdrawal and resubmission may be appropriate, in the wake of Germany’s withdrawal of its bisphenols restriction proposal. Ruxandra said: "[I]nformation captured in the public consultation may be significantly more than what the authority responsible for the proposal can gather before submitting it to ECHA. Under such conditions, a withdrawal may be more likely." Eléonore added: "If information submitted during the public consultation shows a significant change in approach is needed, it makes sense from a legal perspective to withdraw the proposal and resubmit it."
