Chief Special Trial Judge Peter Panuthos to Step Down: The US Tax Court announced May 12 that Chief Special Trial Judge Peter J. Panuthos will step down as chief special trial judge effective September 1. He will be replaced by Special Trial Judge Lewis R. Carluzzo.
Judge Panuthos was appointed a special trial judge on June 12, 1983 and selected to serve as chief special trial judge on June 1, 1992. Judge Carluzzo was appointed a special trial judge in 1994 following a significant career with the Office of IRS Chief Counsel.
