On January 15, 2025, Citeline's Pink Sheet quoted Steptoe senior counsel, Elisabethann Wright in an article "EU Pharma Reform & Reducing Reliance On Asian Imports: What To Expect in 2025." The article discusses the European Commission's plan to propose a Critical Medicines Act to address the EU's dependence on imports of active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished medicines from Asia. This proposal is expected to be formally debated by the Council of the EU in June, 2025. The Council will also review the EU's pharmaceutical reform package, which has been under negotiation for several years.
