(September 22, 2016, Washington, DC) — For the second year in a row, Global Investigations Review has named Steptoe to its GIR 30, an independent guide to the world’s best firms for international investigations. The top 30 law firms were unveiled during an awards ceremony held in New York on September 15.
The GIR 30, which was launched in 2015, is part of the GIR 100, an annual guide to the most trusted firms for cross-border investigations work. According to the editors, this year’s GIR 30 was decided following a rigorous vetting process in which firms submitted detailed information on their work and their investigations team. GIR’s editorial team pored over the information to award each firm points for their performance in nine categories, with a particular focus on the depth and breadth of investigations handled by the firm in the last two years. The editors say the GIR 30 uses objective criteria to rank the firms – including the number of active cases, how high-profile those are, the number of leading figures at the firm, and the hours billed, among other elements examined and put into the formula.
Through decades of experience, Steptoe has earned a national reputation as a go-to firm for boards, audit committees, special committees, companies, and other institutions in need of outside counsel to handle government investigations, sensitive internal investigations, and compliance reviews.
