Overview
(December 29, 2020, Brussels) — The International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) has appointed two Steptoe lawyers to leadership positions. Diletta De Cicco has been appointed a Brussels KnowledgeNet chapter chair and Charles Helleputte has been appointed an European Advisory Board member. Each will serve two-year terms beginning January 1.
KnowledgeNet chapters bring the local privacy community together through free educational meetings and networking activities. Chapters give members opportunities to meet peers in their local area, learn something new, and earn free continuing privacy education (CPE) credits. The European Advisory Board plays a critical role in the development and growth of the IAPP in Europe. It actively advises and supports the IAPP on strategic initiatives and champions the rapidly developing privacy profession in the region.
At Steptoe, De Cicco and Helleputte advise clients on cybersecurity and data privacy issues. They focus on existing EU and national cybersecurity, data and privacy laws such as the NIS Directive, GDPR or the Cybersecurity Act and on upcoming developments such as the ePrivacy Regulation or the Digital Services Act. In addition, Helleputte heads Steptoe's EU cybersecurity, data, and privacy practice.
The IAPP is the largest and most comprehensive global information privacy community and resource. Founded in 2000, the IAPP is a not-for-profit organization that helps define, promote and improve the privacy profession globally.
