Overview
Inside EPA quoted Jim Barnette in an article titled "Industry Fights House PFAS Restrictions But Fears Future Biden Action." The article, published July 15, discusses how industry officials are stepping up their efforts to kill a slew of amendments the House is poised to pass that would limit uses of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Some fear that even if they can block them this year, Democrats will continue to push them and a Biden administration may enact some of the provisions if the former vice president wins in November.
Barnette says: "What's past is prologue – the House is likely to remain Democratic in November, and they're not going away on this issue. I think they would be right back at it next year. If there is a change in administration, there's a lot in [the pending legislation] that a Biden administration could accomplish administratively. So I think it's very, very important for trade associations and individual companies who are anywhere in the PFAS supply chain to step up here."
