(January 28, 2020, Chicago) — Steptoe & Johnson LLP is pleased to announce that John Abramic has been named managing partner of the firm's Chicago office.
Abramic is an experienced patent litigator who represents clients in complex intellectual property disputes. He has served as lead counsel in federal district courts and arbitrations throughout the United States, and for investigations at the International Trade Commission. Abramic has also represented clients in dozens of post-grant review proceedings and frequently appears before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board in inter partes review (IPR) proceedings on behalf of both petitioners and patent owners. He has successfully argued before the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals and has represented clients in numerous appeals of patent suits and IPRs.
At Steptoe, Abramic participates as a sponsor in the firm's Talent Sponsorship Program, which is designed to create relationships in which volunteer Steptoe partners provide experience, exposure, and professional guidance to diverse associates. Abramic is a recipient of the Northern District of Illinois Award for Excellence in Pro Bono and Public Service.
