Overview
(February 24, 2026, Washington, DC) – Steptoe LLP is pleased to announce that Jonathan "Jon" Janow, a highly regarded antitrust and commercial litigator, has joined the firm as a partner in its antitrust practice in Washington, DC. Jon is one of a dozen prominent litigation partners to have joined Steptoe across various practice areas over the past year.
With deep experience in life sciences, pharmaceutical, technology disputes, and investigations, Jon litigates high‑stakes antitrust, consumer protection, and complex commercial matters in federal and state courts across the country. His practice covers multidistrict litigation, class actions, trade secret disputes, cases, and counseling at the intersection of antitrust and intellectual property law.
"Jon is an established litigator with a strong and growing antitrust practice, particularly in the life sciences sector," said Gwen Renigar, firm chair. "His industry knowledge and work at the intersection of litigation, IP, antitrust and technology practices will strengthen established client relationships and will significantly strengthen our antitrust capabilities and meet clients’ interdisciplinary needs."
At Steptoe, Jon will focus on antitrust and commercial litigation, drawing on his extensive background handling pharmaceutical antitrust class actions, trade secret disputes, and sophisticated business litigation. He will also work closely with the firm’s intellectual property, appellate, and technology teams to provide integrated solutions for clients facing multifaceted legal challenges.
"I’m excited to join Steptoe and build my practice on a platform that combines life sciences, antitrust, litigation, IP, and regulatory strength at the highest levels," said Jon. "The firm’s collaborative culture and reputation for excellence make it an ideal home for my practice and for the clients I serve."
The addition augments several other recent high-profile hires by Steptoe in its expanding litigation capabilities, including: Amy Hoff, a nationally recognized energy regulatory litigator; Neel Chopra, the former Head of Legal (Americas) at Binance; Corey Laplante, a trial lawyer and technology executive; Jamari Buxton, a former Assistant United States Attorney in California; and business and human rights lawyers Jonathan Drimmer, Yousuf Aftab, and Timothy Dickinson.
Steptoe’s antitrust practice has handled some of the most significant and complex matters, including representing client EchoStar in a significant antitrust complaint challenging Disney’s use of its ESPN network to saddle consumers with less popular programming, and securing the dismissal of the United States Department of Justice's complaint challenging AMEX GBT’s proposed acquisition of CWT for $570 million.
Jon received his J.D., with highest honors, from The George Washington University Law School, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif, and his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland.
