(September 30, 2024, New York) – Steptoe partner Julia Gatto has been named a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL), one of the premier legal associations in North America. The induction ceremony took place on September 28 during the annual meeting of the college in Nashville, Tennessee.
Julia Gatto is a former federal defender and accomplished trial lawyer. She defends individuals and public and private companies in criminal matters and government investigations in federal and state courts and before regulatory agencies. A fierce advocate for her clients with more than two decades of experience on the defense side, Julia has litigated every aspect of the criminal process with advantageous results for her clients, including trial acquittals, pre-trial dismissals, strategic pleas, and favorable sentences.
Founded in 1950, the ACTL is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship in the college is extended by invitation and only after a rigorous, confidential investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Lawyers must have a minimum of 15 years trial experience before they can be considered for fellowship.
