(March 9, 2018, Washington, DC) — Steptoe & Johnson LLP associate Lauren Azebu has joined the 2018 Pathfinders Program for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). As a pathfinder, Azebu will participate in a program designed by the LCLD to train early-career attorneys in critical career development strategies including programming on leadership and the building of professional networks.
Founded in 2009, LCLD is a growing organization of more than 285 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who are personally committed to creating a truly diverse legal profession. The LCLD Pathfinder Program is now in its third year as a full-scale program, having been piloted in 2015 among a select number of LCLD Member law firms and corporations. It is an initiative that has filled a gap in LCLD programming, targeting junior associates and the youngest members of corporate law departments.
According to LCLD President Robert J. Grey, Jr., the program offers participants “intensive in-person training, online experiential learning, and opportunities to network with peers and esteemed LCLD Fellows in small group gatherings. We believe it’s a program that can help catapult a person’s career forward.”
At Steptoe, Azebu focuses on taxation issues for both domestic and foreign clients. Her experience includes planning and structuring corporate transactions, FATCA compliance, and the Swiss-US Non-Prosecution Agreement program.
Azebu earned her J.D. from Harvard where she was a member of the Harvard Human Rights Journal. She received her B.S. and B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Maryland.
