Overview
(September 23, 2021, Washington, DC) — For the second consecutive year, Steptoe partner Pantelis Michalopoulos has been named a Law360 MVP in telecommunications – one of a small group of five lawyers who received that distinction throughout the country. The awards recognize lawyers who have distinguished themselves from their peers over the past year through high-stakes litigation, record-breaking deals and complex global matters.
In a profile published September 28, the editors write that, among other notable achievements, Michalopoulos "opposed former President Donald Trump's efforts to crack down on social media companies for moderating content and fought SpaceX to prevent interference with Dish's service." That opposition, on behalf of a social media client, may have played a small role in large events: as Michalopoulos puts it, "The events of December [of 2020] and January of 2021… might have unfolded differently."
In the profile, Michalopoulos also dwells on the everyday challenges of practicing law in the new virtual world, mentioning the struggle to position a camera so that the lawyer does not hover above the judge in virtual hearings.
