Overview
Law360 quoted Michael Dockterman in a March 1 article titled "Chancery Orders Balking Yoga Chain To Honor Franchise Deal." The article details a post-trial decision by Delaware Chancery Court Vice Chancellor Joseph R. Slights III in favor of firm client Level 4 Yoga LLC in a contract dispute with CorePower Yoga LLC and CorePower Yoga Franchising. Vice Chancellor Slights found that CorePower Yoga breached its agreement to buy the assets related to 34 franchise studios from Level 4 Yoga and ordered CorePower to close the deal and to pay millions more in delay damages.
Dockterman, counsel to Level 4, told Law360 that "Level 4 is pleased that Vice Chancellor Slights has issued a comprehensive, well-reasoned opinion vindicating Level 4's position, disposing of CorePower's excuses and compelling CorePower to perform under the parties' asset purchase agreement."
In addition to Dockterman, Level 4 Yoga was represented at trial by Steptoe partner John J. Byron, and associates Cara Lawson, Betsy Zyrkowski and Lia Metreveli, and Delaware counsel Lisa Schmidt and Matthew Perri at Richards, Layton & Finger.
