John Lewis, who died July 17 after a battle with pancreatic cancer, fought tirelessly for federal tax policies that would benefit low-income workers and families.
Callas, senior tax counsel to former House Speaker Paul Ryan, says: "Behind the scenes, he just genuinely was motivated by wanting to make people's lives better and just caring about other people as individuals. He came from that generation where you can see someone with disagreements as still being a person of goodwill and good character and you treat them accordingly."
