Law360 quoted Lisa Zarlenga in a June 20 article titled “Expedited Tax Reform Push Raises Transparency Concerns.” The article discusses the promise from House Speaker Paul Ryan and the Trump administration to enact tax reform this year. However, their common agenda is raising concerns that transparency could take a back seat to expediency under such an aggressive deadline.
Ms. Zarlenga, who formerly served in the US Treasury Department’s tax policy office says, “I tend to be one of the more optimistic people who think it’s still doable, but it’s still going to be a really hard thing to get done in this timeframe.”
