On August 29, 2022, Law360 quoted Matthew Frank in a piece titled "IRS Budget Boost May Increase Transfer Pricing Scrutiny." The piece discusses how the Internal Revenue Service may use its funding increase to increase transfer pricing enforcement.
Frank is cited in the article for the point that "…the IRS will likely use part of its increased budget to hire more economists and attorneys for labor-intensive transfer pricing cases. While the agency probably won't change the types of issues it examines, it will be able to undertake more cases." Frank is quoted as saying, "I don't think it is going to change examinations in the qualitative sense of what's examined. It's more going to have an impact on the quantitative." Frank was also quoted regarding the types of issues that may attract increased IRS scrutiny.
