Steptoe’s Alan Cohn, former assistant secretary for Strategy, Planning Analysis & Risk at the Department of Homeland Security, was quoted in a Legaltech News article titled “US Government Needs to Focus on Preventing Future Cyberattacks.” The article, published June 9, discusses how to best proceed after a massive hack of US government records. A recent breach at the Office of Personnel Management resulted in the disclosure of personal records of more than four million federal employees.
Mr. Cohn points out that the government has taken some steps to improve cybersecurity, but more needs to be done. “The government needs to be encouraged to move as quickly as it can. There is just so much more that needs to be done at a much faster speed,” he says.
