Lew, Koskinen, George Testify on Treasury FY 2017 Budget Request: Department of Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, Inspector General Russell George, and Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen all testified at today’s Senate Appropriations Committee hearing on the Department of Treasury’s fiscal year 2017 budget request and justification of funding. Commissioner Koskinen testified that the IRS made good use of the increased funding it received in fiscal year 2016, hiring over 1,000 new employees and significantly increasing the number of taxpayer calls answered.
