Overview
Managing IP quoted John Molenda in an April 1 article titled "New Fed Circuit Judge Could Bring Much-Needed Certainty." In the article, attorneys reflect on what Tiffany Cunningham's historic nomination to the Federal Circuit means for the court and the patent bar. If confirmed, Cunningham would become the appeal court's first-ever Black judge. President Biden nominated 10 other judges alongside Cunningham – and many lawyers are pleased to see that these picks reflect the diversity of the nation.
Molenda, co-chair of Steptoe's healthcare and life sciences industry practice in New York, praises the nominee list. "President Biden made a commitment to increase diversity on the bench and has made some really outstanding selections and moves in the right direction." He adds that Cunningham's qualifications, including her undergraduate degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, law degree from Harvard Law School, and all her patent litigation experience make her a fantastic addition to the court.
