Overview
TheStreet, The Verge and Law360 quoted Pantelis Michalopoulos in articles discussing Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai’s plan to roll back the Obama administration’s net neutrality. In an April 27 speech, Chairman Pai argued that the regulation was a government over-reach, and was not necessary for preserving an open Internet in which broadband providers do not run afoul of the former chairman’s "bright line" rules that prohibit blocking, throttling or setting up Internet "fast lanes."
Mr. Michalopoulos, who represented intervenors including Netflix and Dish in prior litigation over the FCC's net neutrality rules before a federal court of appeals, tells TheStreet: "I believe that there is a fundamental tension between two of the goals that were apparent in [Chairman Pai's] speech. One of the goals is retaining the bright line rules and the other is the goal of re-reclassifying Internet service providers.”
